Fussy eater? Easy ways to get some goodness into you toddler!

Every parent knows this moment. You lovingly prepare a nutricious home made meal for your toddler, only for it to be completely rejected. Or maybe something that went down well once upon a time is now simply ignored. Well if you have a stubborn or fussy eater there are some simple ways that you can get some goodness into your toddler.

2 x easy peasy smoothies...
Smoothies are great for getting lots of vitamins down in one! You can try all all sorts of combinations on fruits, yoghurt, milk or even a scoop of ice-cream.  Here are 2 Maison Monkey favourites. For extra healthy points you can add a small amount of greens such as spinach. They will never know!

Blueberry and Banana
2  bananas
1/2 cup of blueberries
1 cup natural yoghurt
Method: Slice banana and freeze until solid. When ready place them in a blender with the blueberries and yoghurt. Whizz until smooth and serve!

Blackberry and Apple Smoothie - A summer favourite and a great reason to take kids blackberry picking!   Simply blend until smooth:
1 cup of frozen blackberries
1/2 cup of apple juice
1 banana
1/2 cup of natural yoghurt

Baked Vegetable Bites - yummy!
If your toddler is a fish-finger fan (like mine) but you don't want to feed them it 7 days a week, then Baked Vegetable Bites are a great alternative way to get in some extra veggies and are also very easy to make. They also make a tasty substitute for potatoes.

1 or 2 steamed broccoli florets, finely chopped
1 potato (boiled or baked) mashed
1 small carrot, grated
1/2 onion, minced
1/2 cup grated cheese

1 tbs olive oil
1 tbs water

Pre-heat oven to 190 degrees. Combine the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well. Take a small amount of the mixture and roll in your hands. Place on an oiled baking tray or paper and squash down to flatten shape. Bake in the oven for approx 25 minutes, turning halfway. Allow to cool for a while before serving.

For more ideas, keep an eye on our new recipes page! All our recipes have been tried, tested and approved at Maison Monkey and are healthy and simple. Bon appetit!
